These are the sort of brooding dark skies that most pilots stay well clear of and have a strong sense of relief when back on the ground. This is an account by Sinziana of a determined and successful attempt to brave the storms and go air racing written by addicts of that exciting branch of aviation that has persisted since flying in aircraft began. They did it in their plane of choice the pilots machine the Beagle Pup 150, not a spam can an aircraft that will get you through heavy weather they had an amazing weekend at the Royal Aero Club Bleriot race in Abbeville/France. We flew from North Weald wishing to get to Abbeville that evening, but risking our lives on a crazy thunderstorm. Was crazy. We actually had a black clouds curtain in front of us and took our chances to pass it and land somewhere safe. Instead of going straight to Abbeville we had to land quickly somewhere because the storm was coming. Unfortunately our radio reception from the Beagle stuck on decimal .2 and we could only hear airfields with decimal.2. anyway we found Rochester airfield nearby and we flew straight there, borrowed a portable radio and flew forward to Lydd. We couldn’t get to Abbeville that evening…was crazy… we had to spend the night in New Romley (Lydd). The next morning was incredible. Blue sky, perfect and we arrived just on time for refuelling and racing. Have a look at her blog. www.airsportstv.wordpress.com
